                                     Written Episode 3

After some years she gave birth to seven celestial babies and one other baby (Indradev, Vayudev, Agnidev, Varundev, Suryadev, Chandradev, Kamadev, One baby none other than Devavrata). Ganga instantly threw seven babies into her river when they were born. When she gave birth to eighth baby, she threw him into the river . Shantanu stopped her and shouted “Why are you throwing our own kids into the river?’’ Ganga said “The seven babies were none other than celestial gods who live in heaven. Devas!!! They took birth here as human beings because of curse of sage Vasishta. Sage Vasishta was praying the Devas. The Devas did not pay heed. So, Vasishta cursed them to be born on earth as human beings.  I threw them in my river, so that they will die and can resume to heaven. But you have broken your promise.  My plan was to keep him (Eighth baby) safe in my river and give him all the knowledge of the whole universe and make him a wise king. You promised me that you will say nothing if I do any strange thing. Now I am going away with my baby.’’

Shantanu was in great sorrow when Ganga leaved him.   After some years, Ganga gave the eighth son to Shantanu. He was so happy. Ganga said, “He (Shantanu's son) is well educated. He learnt Vedas from Brihaspati, art of warfare from Vasishta.’’  He (Shantanu) named his kid as Devavrata.

 When Devavrata grew up, he became very much talented and dexterous.
